La Quinta case analysis guidelines

$-$ Write up should be no more than three single$-$spaced pages, plus up to three additional pages of optional exhibits $$ calculations, charts, regression output, etc. to support your conclusions.

$-$ Specific things to address in write up$,$ based on theoretical reasons, plus data:

o Which year did you choose $(1983$ or $1986)$ for your dependent variable, and why?

o Which of the three success measures is appropriate to be used as the dependent variable? $($use theoretical arguments only$)$

o Select $10$ independent variables $$ use theoretical and quantitative arguments for your variables

o Find regression equation using excel $($or R$,$ if you prefer$).$ Include coefficients and p values as well as overall fit of regression. Explain what these results tell us$.($Use the first $56$ observations only$)$

o Predict the dependent variable for all $6$ potential locations

o Tell me what you think the optimal location is$,$ based on your prediction

o Include your regression results $($Excel or R output$)$ as part of your writeup. $($Should go in the back in the up to $3$ pages of calcs$/$ figures$/$ output$)$

o Should you use the data as$-$is$?$ Is there any need to clean up the data? If so$,$ justify how you cleaned up the data

o From a theoretical perspective, in general, what makes an independent variable a good predictor?
