In this assignment, we will put to the test the first modules we have seen from Arena. Specifically,

we will create two models using the Create, Dispose, Process, Entity, and Resource modules.

A two$-$person emergency room

Consider a small after$-$hours emergency room department that employs two people: one recep$-$

tionist and one medical professional. Patients arrive at the emergency room with interarrival

times that follow an exponential distribution with a mean of $20$ minutes. Then, the

receptionist makes sure that they have all necessary paperwork and collects their information

in time that is exponentially distributed with a mean of $5$ minutes. After the reception$-$

ist clears them for admission, the patient is seen by the medical professional in time that is

exponentially distributed with a mean of $15$ minutes. The emergency department works

every night from $10$pm until $6$am $($for $8$ hours$).$

$($a$)$ Create the simulation model in Arena. Run $1$ replication for $8$ hours. Then, answer the

following questions:

$1.$ How many patients are $($on average$)$ in the secretary queue?

$2.$ How many patients are $($on average$)$ in the medical professional queue?

$3.$ How much time does a patient spend $($on average$)$ in the emergency room $($from initial

entry to final exit$)?$

$4.$ What is the utilization $($look for instantaneous utilization$)$ of the secretary and what is

the utilization $($again$,$ instantaneous utilization$)$ of the medical professional?

$($b$)$ For the same simulation model, run it for $10$ replications instead. Report the same numbers

with a $95\%$ confidence.
