Lab 1 - Data Wrangling

The NewStudents.csv dataset contains information of the accepted new students of college of Natural Sciences and Mathematics. Student IDs, Names, email addresses, phone numbers, and addresses have been replaced by randomly generated data, but other infornmation such as, Program, Program Description, Application Status, Application Status Date, Stnc Title, and Stnc Score are original.

Tasks:

Import the csv file.

Data Wrangling

Keep the following columns: ID, first name, last name, Street Address, City, State, Zip, email, Home Phone, Program, Program Description, Application Status, Application Status Date, SAT (highest one), and ACT (highest one).

Merge/remove rows

Type conversion

Data Exploration Answer the following questions:

How many student for each major, BIOL, COSC, CISC, ENSC, MATH, and NASC?

How many student got accepted in 2017 and 2018?

What is the average SAT score for each major?

Find statistic information of SAT ans ACT scores: mean, standard deviation, min, max
