Lab 4 A Writing Assignment Written Communication Book Part 1 Objectives 1-8 Tasks to Complete: Lab Work You should have read Part One in the Written Communication book - in the Lab 4 folder on the course site there is additional information on email etiquette and memo format, etc. Although most business communication today is done via email, many times information is still sent using Memo format. Here is the scenario: You have just been laid off from a high paying job. You are going to send Memo's to FOUR people telling them the news. Write each of these communications in MEMO format using Word. ** HINT: You can use a Word Memo template; you will have to search for a Memo template in Word and download. I have provided one in the lab folder. You must put them into one document, each memo format on the top a new page, (use copy and paste of the Memo template) so you will have a 4-page document when finished. You must select from below, two from the formal section (use formal business lanquage) and two from the informal section (you can use less formal lanquage). BE SERIOUS IN THIS ASSIGNMENT-DO NOT WRITE SOMETHING SIMPLE - I WILL GRADE YOU ACCORDINGLY The people you are telling: These can be actual or fictional people's names. The memo content must reflect each specific situation. - Formal An old boss (from a previous job) from whom you are looking for contacts for a new job or references. The boss who just laid you off. To your landlord asking to be let out of your lease because you have been laid off. To a head hunter requesting his or her service in finding a job. -Informal A friend who mentioned work in another part of the country. Write to ask if there is anything available. A best friend who has a high paying job and it seems he or she will NEVER be laid off. A best friend who has been out of work for 6 months. A place where you volunteer and to let them know you may be relocating. Details You must type the Memo's in Word. They must all be in one document. Place each memo on a separate page using the Ctrl -Enter key sequence in Word to insert a hard page break. SAVE THE FILE AS: LastNameFirstinitialLab 4. You must use a minimum of 5 sentences and a maximum of 20 sentences for EACH Memo. You will be graded on grammar, spelling, etc. and appropriateness of the email tone. This will be dependent on the recipient. Do not use Text Talk in the emails
