Lab $5$: Karnaugh Mapping and

Code Translation Networks

Introduction:

Karnaugh mapping $($K$-$map$)$ is a widely used method to simplify complicated Boolean equations.

By combining the adjacent terms in the diagrams, the original equation can be converted to a new

one in a simpler form but share the same truth table.

The Code translation network is used to convert one type of binary code to another. Some types

of binary codes like BCD code, gray code, excess$-3$ code, etc are used for different types of digital

applications. In this experiment, the use of combinational logic networks to perform translations

from one number encoding to another is examined.
