Q.3.2 (5) MEN@WORK (Pty) Ltd has deviated in one instance from their unwritten rule not to employ females. They employ Susan, a 22-year-old female, as the office cleaner and tea lady. Susan is incredibly attractive and on a few occasions some of the male employees in the office have whistled at her and bantered amongst themselves when she is nearby. On a specific occasion, one of the junior male architects makes a comment when she walks past that "he would love to catch her alone in the bathroom and bend her over the basin in her little cleaner's uniform", to which his male colleagues laughed. Susan felt humiliated and reported the incident to the office manager. The office manager responded by telling Susan "not to be so sensitive as it was clearly meant as a compliment".
