Law and Ethics

The IT team at BioHack were having their weekly discussion. The topic, laws that involve computer hacking and the relevance of the information technology professional ethics codes and guidelines (e.g., ACM and IEEE Code of Ethics).

The president smiled because everyone wanted to talk about the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act (CFAA).

The challenge is to outline and discuss the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act (CFAA) and one other law that involves computer hacking. The law could be a state or federal law. Include specifics such as punishment type with the duration and severity (as applicable). Include the similarity or differences between the two laws.

BioHack is also considering membership in a professional IT organization such as ACM or IEEE.

The question posed by the president is as follows:

Are ACM and IEEE Code of Ethics still relevant?

Defend your position with the reasons why or why not? And provide one other organization that you believe might be a better choice for BioHack.
