Let's talk ethics in the laboratory. It is so important to remember that there is a person on the other side of that tube, swab, or sample. Tell us about a time that you felt conflicted about work. Haven't had that happen? That's great, but come up with a scenario for us to discuss. Here is my example:

I worked in the blood bank for many, many years and sometimes got called in for traumas. One night I was called in for a bad wreck where a drunk driver hit and killed several people in the other car. The drunk driver survived the crash, but required lots of blood and blood products. I will never forget running down the hall to the lab in the wee hours of the morning and having to squeeze through the families of the crash victims. $($The chapel of this particular hospital is right outside lab door and that's where the families were gathered.$)$ No matter how we felt about that person and what they did, we still had to provide the same quality of care. How would that make you feel? Would you move as fast for that patient as you would for a child or someone that you personally knew??
