It is easy to divide the work so make sure everyone is doing something all the time else you will run out of time$).$ I recommend the entire teams analyses option $1$ first and then option $2.$ You will need the Idemat app to do this assignment.Deliverables: A neat Excel Spreadsheet with a statement of scope at the top and a neat analysis showing the options side by side broken down into categories $($transportation$,$ raw materials, processes, packaging, disposal, etc.$).$ Due at the end of class.Option $1$All waste goes to landfill.Drive $6$ km to Costco. The car burns $($combusts$)10\mathrm{.}25$ kg of gasoline $($petrol$)$ per $100$ km$.$Buy a $120$ g cooked sausage on a $100$g bun $($equivalent to a $100$g baguette$)$ wrapped in $0\mathrm{.}06$ m$?$ of paper. Also buy a $250$ g slice of pizza $(130$ g of bread, $40$ g shoulder ham, $40$g tomato, $40$ g mozzarella cheese; all baked together$)$ served on a $120$ g piece of cardboard $($brown paper kraft, FSC$).$ Also buy $230$ g of French fries $($frozen frites; baked$)$ served on a $120$ g piece of cardboard. Also buy $500$ mL $(500$ g$)$ of Coke in a plastic bottle $($the bottle is make from $14$ g of PET, bottle grade and is blow moulded$).$Eat the food. Throw away the packaging in the garbage $($no recycling$).$ Drive home $6$ km$.$Option $2$All waste is open$-$loop recycled$/$composted$.$Drive $3$ km to Loblaws. Buy a $500$ mL $(500$ g$)$ of beer in a glass bottle $($the bottle weighs $190$ g empty and is recyclable$).$Also buy at least $7$ raw, uncooked ingredients for a meal. The choice of ingredients is up to you, but the ingredients must include at least one grain $($for example, potatoes, pasta, several vegetables, and at least one protein source which can be either meat or vegetarian. The total weight of the raw ingredients must be $800$ g$.$The protein source is wrapped in $0\mathrm{.}06$ m $50$ mu PP film. All the other ingredients are carried in a $500$ g cardboard box $($brown paper kraft, FSC$)$ that can be reused $10$ times before it is recycled.Drive $2$ km home.Prepare food ingredients for cooking. During food preparation $12\mathrm{.}5\%$ of the food is wasted $($e$.$g$.$ vegetable and meat scraps$)$ and goes to compost. In the compost $5\%$ of the weight of food waste becomes COz gas that is emitted to the atmosphere. The cardboard box and PP film are recycled $($open$-$loop$).$Cook all ingredients using at least two cooking processes $($e$.$g$.$ boiling, baking, roasting$).$Eat the meal.Wash the dishes using $20$ L of hot water $($heating the water requires $0\mathrm{.}00335$ GJ of electricity$).$Take the empty beer bottle, along with $11$ other empty beer bottles, to the Beer Store. The Beer Store recycles the bottles. You bike $2$ km to the beer store and $2$ km back home.
