• Locate both a credible source and a scholarly or peer-reviewed source on a topic of your choice. Include a properly formatted APA citation and a link to or attachment of your selected articles.

• Appraise each source by completing a checklist for understanding the reader, addressing the following questions:
  • Who will read this article?
  • What do they expect from the author?
  • How much should the author expect them to know already?
  • How will readers respond to the solution/answer in the main claim of the article?
• Compare and contrast the two sources you reviewed. Do the authors of each follow best practices based on the type of writing? What strategies did each employ most effectively?
• Articulate the following: How does academic writing at the doctoral level differ from other forms of writing? How will you ensure your own doctoral communication (written and/or oral presentation) is engaging and appropriate per academic writing standards?
