2. (c) [ 20 Marks] The gear-driven squeeze roll shown below mates with an idler roll. The roll is designed to exert a normal force of 5.25N/mm of roll length and a pull of 4.2N/mm on the material being processed. The roll speed is 300rev/min, and a design life of 30kh is desired. Use an application factor of 1.2 , and select a pair of angular-contact 02 -series ball bearings (a=3) to be mounted at O and A with the outer ring stationary (the rotation factor V=1 ). Use the same size bearings at both locations with a combined reliability of 0.92 . The bearings manufacturer (with L10=106 ) provided the Weibull parameters as follow: x0=0.02,=4.459 and b=1.483. The gear at B is a bevel gear giving the force F as shown with a pressure angle of 20, in addition to an axial force of 650N. The ratio of axial force to the static load rating (Fa/C0) is required to be 0.17
