The three Americans arrive at the Shanghai airport at 9 a.m. and have their first ap- pointment with Chinese senior staff at 3p.m. that day. The Chinese provide an interpreter for the meetings. Social conversation is conducted until 5 p.m., followed by dinner from 7 to 11:30 p.m. The business discussions begin the next day at 9 a.m. with presentations until noon.
