Make a reply to the discussion post My first time taking the SAT is a perfect situation where I had to exhaust my intelligence to overcome an obstacle. This happened 2 years ago during the summer after the 10th grade. I signed up to take the test rather early with the thought of taking it quickly to see where I would need to improve when I took it again which I did. On that day, I woke up early and eager to do the best I could, I was prepared as could be even getting a scientific calculator which worked well. I started the test practically flying through the english sections and the first math section. I got to the calculator section and my calculator wouldn't for whatever reason so I had to lock in and complete the rest of the test without it which needed me to do extra to compensate for the lack of a calculator. When i got the results back, I was surprised with the score I made. I honestly didn't think I would do good without the calculator with that section in particular.
