State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has stated monetary policy as "Monetary policy involves central banks' use of instruments to influence interest rates and/or money supply in the economy with the objective to keep overall prices and financial markets stable." SBP had introduced restrictive/contractionary fiscal policy for the year in 2018- 2019 by accelerating interest rate from 8% to 13.25%. You are inquired to find the reasons SBP has quoted in monetary policy statements. On the contrary, SBP has declined the interest rate gradually from 13.25% to 7% for the year 2020-21 showed an expansionary monetary policy. Again, you are required to find the reasons from monetary policy statements. Contractionary Monetary Policy: It is advised to read monetary policy statements the month of November 2018, January 2019, March 2019 and July 2019 for restrictive monetary policy. Expansionary Monetary Policy: It is advised to read monetary policy statements for the month of March 2020, April 2020, May 2020, and June 2020 for expansionary monetary policy
