Assignment Description

$$ The group project for $2024$ is for the students to write a proposal for a production facility that

is to produce additive manufacturing machines $(3$D printers form part of this$)$ in large

quantities $($You may focus on one type of machine, it doesn$$t have to be too general$).$ Aspects

of the report of the production facility should include the items listed below, in no specific

order. The exact device does not have to be designed, but this report will rather be like a

literature study including typical$/$sample calculations on each aspect of the production facility.

$$ The chosen type of AM machines that this facility will be producing, including a

motivation why that type was chosen.

$$ What the AM machines will consist of$,$ like structures, materials, hardware etc. $($software

can be excluded$)$

$$ A detailed description of the manufacturing process to achieve each of the hardware

components listed above. Include a motivation $($sample calculations$)$ of whether the

items need to be made in$-$house or rather bought from an external vendor.

$$ Provide sample calculations on the accuracy$/$resolution$/$repeatability of the chosen AM

machine.

$$ Provide a schematic layout of the production facility and motivate the location of each

item$/$processing equipment.

$$ Provide a strategy to verify that the produced devices will deliver on their

specifications$/$expectations $($quality control and inspection plan$)$

$$ Provide a conclusion on the proposed production facility.
