Many companies are striving to be more responsible but may find that they don't have the leadership
Question:
Many companies are striving to be more responsible but may find that they don't have the leadership needed to transform from a traditional to a prime business. Current managers may be trained so that they can step up to the challenge of transforming the business, or companies may choose to bring in someone who has demonstrated the needed competencies.
The top managers of Global Business, Inc. didn't think any of their current managers had the requisite skills to achieve a transformation and they were impatient to get the process started. So, they hired an executive search firm, Excellent Search, LLC, to help them hire a manager to transform a production facility into a responsible business unit. Because of her excellent qualifications, Excellent Search, LLC recommended that Global Business interview Ann North. Ann is excited about the opportunity and wants to do her very best in the interview. She needs to prepare for some questions that she is sure she will be asked.
To help, please suggest answers to the following questions:
1.) What competencies do you think are required for this job? Please be specific.
2.) What do performance, effectiveness, and efficiency mean to you and how do you expect to evaluate others' effectiveness, efficiency and performance?
3.) When you think about where you will be in the Global Business hierarchy in 5 years, how do you think the expectations for responsible management will differ from the expectations for your entry-level position?
