Maps Dilations In this unit, you explored different ways to dilate an image. In this lab, you will practice what you learned by ents dilating an image of your choice and justifying your scale factor. You will need an image to dilate, graph paper, a ruler, a pencil, and colors. Download a worksheet here. I 18 Procedures: 1. Draw or find a picture and print it out. Put your picture toward the left-hand corner, as shown in the example. 2. Draw a point to represent the point of dilation. Place it at the bottom left-hand corner of your paper, as ical shown in the example. 3. Plot at least 10 points along the edge of your pre-image. Choose a scale factor, then use a pencil and ruler to dilate those points. Show your lines. 4. Connect your new points to form the outline of your image. Use a marker or colored pencil to trace your enlarged image. Keep the line segments that you used to dilate the pre-image. 5. Complete the drawing, including color and details within the outline of your image. 6. Show or explain how you can verify the scale factor. Justify your response using at least three dilated points.
