The notice states that it disallows the amount of $2000 that Mateo has spent on working from home during the 2022 year of income. Mateo is very upset as he knows that he spent this money and believes it to be an allowable deduction. Furthermore, Mateo has seen a Public Ruling from the Commissioner of Taxation stating that this amount was an allowable deduction for taxpayers forced to work from home because of the COVID-19 Pandemic. REQUIRED: Advise Mateo of the steps he should take to dispute the Commissioner's decision. (Refer to legislation and case law to support your calculations).
