MATH 105 - INTRO TO STATISTICS COMPUTER PROJECT #2 You will analyze data from two different files: one will be data from a survey conducted on the first day of class (F24 Project 2 survey data.xlsx), and the other will be state educational data (State Educational Data.xlsx). The data files are posted in Canvas under the assignment "Project #2", along with a link to Crunch It. Use Microsoft Word (or a comparable program) to create a report document. At the top of the document, type your name, Math 105, and Project #2. Follow the instructions in "Project Guidelines". You will submit your project document in Canvas, saved as a PDF. 1. Using the Survey data (Note: The survey was conducted in several sections of statistics classes.): a. Select Insert Random Numbers Uniform, then input 0 for Minimum, 1 for Maximum, 180 for Samples, then click the Samples button. A new column of numbers is added to the data set. Move your mouse to the variable name for this column, click the down arrow, then choose Sort Ascending. Scroll down to the last case, click to the left of the row number to select it, then choose FilteringExclude Selected. Repeat the instructions in the previous sentence for the second-last case. Identify, by giving the height and handspan, the two cases that were excluded.
b. Generate Descriptive Statistics for the height (X, in inches) and the handspan (Y, in centimeters) of USF statistics students.
c. Choose Statistics Regression Simple Linear. Specify your dependent (Y) and independent (X) variables. Produce numeric results by selecting Numeric Results under Display.
d. Again, choose Statistics Regression Simple Linear, and select Fitted Plot under Display. Divide this scatterplot up into four quadrants using the means of each variable. You can do this in Microsoft Word by choosing Insert Shapes Lines. The regression line should go through the intersection of the means.
e. Describe the form, direction, and strength of the association that is depicted in your scatterplot. Explain what the direction of association implies about the relationship between the variables.
f. Identify the regression line, then write a sentence that explains how to interpret the slope in terms of these specific variables.
g. Use the regression equation to predict the handspan for a person of your height (show your calculation). Measure the handspan of your writing hand to the nearest tenth of a centimeter (Report it.). Does the regression equation underpredict or overpredict your handspan? MY HEIGHT IS EXACTLY 5 FEET
