Matlab code....***to answer, MATLAB software is needed.****....Q2
The governing equations for 5 bungee jumpers connected together with 10m long cords can be written (in terms of their respective mass m, cord stiffness k and extension x) as:
m1g + k2(x2-x1) k1 x1 = 0
m2g + k3(x3-x2) k2(x2-x1) = 0
m3g + k4(x4-x3) k3(x3-x2) = 0
m4g + k5(x5-x4) k4(x4-x3) = 0
m5g k5(x5-x4) = 0
where g=9.81 m/s2, the acceleration due to gravity, and the masses and spring constants are tabulated below:

Using MATLAB, responde the following:
(a) Write the equations to determine the cord extensions in tri-diagonal matrix form.
(b) Use the Thomas algorithm to solve for the extensions
(c) Use the Gauss-Seidel method to solve for the extensions to an accuracy of 0.1%, and compare the results to those of (b). What do you conclude? (d) How many iterations did it take if initial guess is x=0?
Jumper 1 2 4 5 65 70 50 75 80 Mass, m (Kg) Stiffness, k (N/m) 500 900 750 900 1300
