Maya has just been informed that she has been accepted for the position of Organisational Behaviour Specialist at the Google South Africa branch, situated in Bryanston.
Maya is a very successful and driven individual with an impeccable reputation. She does however admit that she has a constant fear of failure. In the final interview, the employer made Maya aware of the fact that she must undergo certain training programmes that Google offers in-house, to familiarise herself with Googles systems and procedures as soon as her probation period of three months starts. As the compulsory training was not mentioned before, Maya anxiously agreed but it has been bothering her ever since. She was under the impression that she is adequately trained and experienced enough to meet and even exceed the requirements for the advertised position.
Maya must start work on Monday. Maya will be introduced to her new colleagues and then the training is set to start from the first day. On Monday when Maya arrived at work, she was welcomed by the colleagues and the training manager gave her a tour of the organisation. The training manager gave Maya a schedule for the training week and her job description was printed for her. A fully furnished office has been set up for Maya.
At the beginning of the training, Maya was assured that she was welcome. Maya and the training manager had a tea break and they briefly discussed what Maya knows and is capable of doing concerning the position of Organisational Behaviour Specialist. During the tea break, the training manager explained how Maya is expected to carry out her tasks.
The training will entail the demonstration of how to perform tasks of the position. On day 4 and day 5, Maya will be allowed to practice tasks under supervision where she will be reinstructed if she makes mistakes. Maya will start working on her own in the following week. The training manager has assured Maya that she is always welcome to consult her superiors whenever she encounters problems.
