Part 1: Case Study

Terry experienced an earthquake in his hometown that destroyed his neighborhood and took the life of his good friend and neighbor. His friend was a husband and dad. Terry consistently avoids thoughts and images related to witnessing this tragic event. He is spending more and more time at work and filling his days with hobbies and activities. However, whenever he has free time, the images come flooding back and he starts to have anxiety episodes.

Additionally, Tracy is a mission's pastor that led a mission trip to Terry's town to help with clean up and providing supplies, food, and shelter to those impacted. Tracy was not prepared for how this trip would impact her. When she returned home, her mind would race about all the "what if's" when it came to those impacted. She found herself pouring herself into ministry and working long hours to try and compensate for what she could not resolve for those in Terry's town.

Part 2: Coping Plan

As a ministry counselor, you will come up with a coping plan for Terry and Tracy. Keep in mind that one witnessed this tragedy firsthand and the other one only witnessed the aftermath.

1. In 100-150 words, explain the approach to coping that you would utilize with Terry.

4. In 100-150 words, explain the approach to coping that you would utilize with Tracy.

5. In 75-100 words, explain what compassion fatigue is and how Tracy is specifically experiencing it. How is the visibly noticeable in her day-to-day life. Additionally, give two practical ways to combat the compassion fatigue.6.In 100-150 words, give at least three passages of scripture that speak to Terry and Tracy and how you would apply these passages to their current circumstances
