Motivation Exercise 3-1
Consider two workers, say W1 and W2, doing a "finishing operation" on units of a product, say p, in a special 2-person "manufacturing room," say R. Assume that W1 and W2 work independently of each other.
Worker 1, WI, releases one unit of product p every 6 minutes on the average, and worker 2, W2, works a little faster than W1 and releases one unit of product p every 5 minutes on the average.
Whenever a unit of product p is released by W1 or W2, that unit of product p is promptly transported out of room R through its only door. Suppose a manufacturing inspector is watching the door of room R so as to record production rate.
