Question: Mountaineer Salads ( MS ) makes pre - made salads. The salads are packaged and shipped to stores for sale, but they don t need
Mountaineer Salads MS makes premade salads. The salads are packaged and shipped to stores for sale, but they dont need to track anything about that side of the operation. What they need is a database that keeps track of recipes, the Saladologists creating the salads, and their suppliers.
For each of their salads, MS has a basic recipe on a paper Salad Card. For example:
Salad: Power Nut Greens
Price: $
Salad Creation Date: December
Created by Saladologist: Kenya Tennant
Salad Recipe
Item Num Item Name Qty
S Kale
S Croutons
S Seed Mix
S Almonds
All quantities are in grams. They want to place all of this information in the database. All salad names are unique. A salad can only be created by one Saladologist. Saladologists need to be placed in the system when they are hired.
For their Saladologists, MS needs to track their unique employee ID first and last name, and age. For ingredients, they need to track the information on the card. They also need to know when inventory has dropped below kilogram, as thats when they reorder from their suppliers. The ingredients are complicated, as some ingredients are made up of other ingredients. For example, Seed Mix is made up of Sesame Seeds, Walnuts, and Chia Seeds. Each of those is also an ingredient in their inventory. They need to know which ingredients and how much of each ingredient are used to make other ingredients.
They also need to track their ingredient suppliers. Each supplier has a unique ID a company name, and an address only street and city They also store all of the supplier's potential phone numbers. Some suppliers are classified as organic For these suppliers they need to track their government issued organic certification number, and the date that they received the certification. Suppliers can supply multiple ingredients and ingredients can be supplied by many suppliers.
Finally, the Saladologists pick up the ingredients from the suppliers in company trucks. They can only make one trip per day. MS wants to know the date each saladologist drove to a supplier, and the truck they used for that trip. For trucks, they store the VIN, make and model.
At the end of each month, MS pays the Saladologists $ for every time they drove a truck that month. They also need to change the oil on each truck after every trips. Finally, each year they report the total number of new salads created to the CEO, and file a report to the government listing the total number of ingredients in their database.
