Move over TikTok, a new competitor has entered the market! Perhaps you've already read about the brand new Google powered Tik Tok alternative, YouTube Shorts. Much like TikTok, Shorts will allow people to make and upload micro videos into a feed inside the mobile app and take advantage of the licensed music YouTube has in its catalog. But the question is, can a new platform penatrate a market that TikTok dominates with a current install base of 1 Billion users? Also, what implications does this have for other competitors like Dubsmash, Triller, and Instagram Reels? Google once tried to launch a Facebook alternative (Google +) and I'm not sure how many of you remember that short lived experiment but the end result was a disaster.
