My controversial economic issue is definitely the idea that tax brackets change the playing field for those who are self employed. Tax brackets confuse everyone, and without a skilled accountant working by your side, most fall into the traditional trap of paying more in taxes than most because they do not leverage write offs, expenses or take advantage of the United States tax code. Where most people think that the hardest workers make the most money. That is simply untrue, because if it were true, oil pipeline workers, farmers and construction workers would make the most money. Tax brackets seem to be designed to keep the poor, poor, the rich, rich and the middle the middle. By understanding the tax code, especially as a business owner like myself and many others, one can take advantage of the tax code, and in turn save thousands and build wealth much easier. In conclusion, my controversial opinion resides in the difference of tax brackets, and most are not informed on how to leverage their own assets, expenses and living costs to break the cycle to paying more taxes than they should.
