Building an information system requires an understanding of the organization's needs. Discuss the central organizations' factors to consider when building an information system. Pick one factor and apply it to your past, current, or professional experience.

MY RESPONSE:

There are many factors that need to be taken into consideration before building an effective business information system. Our textbook does a great job of summing up these factors, saying, $$The interaction between information technology and organizations is complex and is influenced by many mediating factors, including the organization$$s structure, business processes, politics, culture, surrounding environment, and management decisions$($Laudon$,2021,$ p$.79).$ With many complex factors needing further consideration, we should single one out. Business processes are a huge one that affects business operations and the possible effectiveness of an information system. The textbook does a good job explaining this: $$All organizations are composed of individual routines and behaviors, a collection of which make up a business process. A collection of business processes make up the business firm. New information system applications require that individual routines and business processes change to achieve high levels of organizational performance$($Laudon$,2021,$ p$.82).$ Adapting routines and processes is extremely important to ensure optimal performance and good cohesion for the information system. Bad processes can cause a rift to form in the organizational side of the business, which can have negative effects. I know firsthand as I have encountered bad business processes many times in the past, and it severely slows down the pace while also making it less efficient as there is no standardization, which is not ideal for an information system as it can lead to less accurate results, which is less than ideal. Adaptation must be made along the way so that you listen to employees and implement new techniques and technologies when needed, as cutting back on menial tasks is going to be worth it in the end as no one likes the tedious work, and being able to automate those tasks is extremely important and very efficient.
