Concrete Reinforcement

On the following page is a sketch of a section of a concrete structure. Using the concepts from concrete division $3$ you should be able to generally indicate the basic location and type of the steel reinforcing required and draw the steel reinforcing graphically on the sketch.

Please ensure use of good graphics.

$($Assume positive water pressure under the slab$).$

Directions:

$(2)$ Use different colored pens or pencils to show your answers and draw directly on the sketch.

$(2)$ Draw and label all of the loads on the building in all directions. $($eg$.$ dead, live, soil, water, etc$)$

$(3)$ Draw the deflected shape on all of the effected structural elements with a dashed line.

$(3)$ Draw the steel reinforcing in its correct location and indicate what type.

$($Remember to place steel bars to resist deflection$)$

hooks

stirrups

column ties
