David L Calhoun is the current CEO and President of Boeing, he was appointed as the CEO of the company in December 2019 following 2 fatal crashes that took the life of many people and also the company was facing safety issues in some of its products, Mr. David L Calhoun had been working with Boeing since 2009 when he joined it as an executive director then in October 2019 he became chairman of directors and then became the CEO in December 2019.He started his career in GE where he left after becoming the part of board of directors in 2005, then came the point of his success as a leader when he joined VNU as a CEO in 2006, he transformed that company by rebranding it to Nielsen Holdings in 2011 and then getting it listed on S&P 500 Index.
The leadership style adopted by him although his career has been a combination of authoritative and democratic as he has backed his employees in many of the instances and have put his trust in their talents while guiding the company through the tough times, his leadership style has been proved very effective in the stints he has been tasked with.
He has many tough tasks ahead of himself regarding the goodwill of the company in the eyes of customers, regulators so he has an uphill task developing the trust with customers, regulators with regards to the safety and quality of the products, improving the work culture which was also complained about by many employees and at the same time improving revenues. Many analyst have put their trust in David L Calhoun for the revival of Boeing.
