Need help writing this project:

Research question : How have taxes increased the rate of homelessness and how can taxes help to decrease the rising of homelessness?

  1. Conduct preliminary research on your research question using scholarly databases and sources using Google Scholar. Find at least four sources that address your research question and provide a citation for them: title, author/s, journal or book, year, etc. They must be from three different disciplines; Agriculture, Economics, and Sociology.

The anatomy of your annotated bibliography

Follow these instructions (4-5pgs Word doc., 12pt double-spaced)

  1. Paragraph one: introduce your research question in 2-3 sentences. Then explain what the stakes of this question are and why it matters.
  2. Paragraph two: describe the fantasy project you dreamed up to address this central question. The research you're conducting this week is to make sure that the planning for your project is thorough and effective, so explain in detail what you imagine your fantasy project to be like.
  3. Paragraph three should introduce your sources. In paragraph form, list the titles and authors of each source, along with what disciplines/disciplinary approaches they use. (Example: "In researching for my podcast, I found five different articles that will shape my approach to the episode. The first is Beyen et al.'s study of adolescent mental health and social media, titled 'The effect of social media on well-being differs from adolescent to adolescent.' The researchers are from the discipline of Communication Studies.")
  4. For the next few paragraphs, you will zero in on each of your sources. Write one paragraph per source going into more detail about the source itself. (If you have 5 sources, you will write five paragraphs.) These paragraphs include:
    1. Full citation (in MLA or Chicago style). Link.
    2. A summary of the article
    3. The research methods used by the authors (how they know what they know)
    4. The source's argument/s
    5. Your personal conclusions about the source and its relevance to your research question. What does this article/source have to say in response to your research question?
  5. Your final concluding paragraph will provide an initial answer to your research question. It should also describe how the sources you chose would guide you in the planning of your fantasy project. Did the articles teach you something that you'll use to frame your project? Did they emphasize the importance of a certain approach, which will lead you to bringing in a certain kind of person? Based on your research, imagine who you would feature in your fantasy project. (Example: "X article pointed out that adolescents are more likely to show depressive symptoms if they do not have a certain amount of in-person social interaction with others, and they fill their free time by scrolling. This makes me see that my podcast could feature a child psychologist who specializes in helping parents organize their children's schedules for optimal wellbeing." Another example: "Egan's article in the New Yorker shows the importance of having the perspectives of homeless individuals and those who care for them inform the initiatives developed to support them.")
