needing assistance with this discussion answer from classmate The field of study that I'm most interested is clinical psychology it is a field that I'm passionate about because I want to help people in the mental health space and provide services that are missing due to the lack of representation in that filed. Clinical psychology field is not built to responds to mental health needs and demands from the black population. I was in mental health ward for two months in 2016 the clinical assessment that was used did not even consider environmental factors like racial stress and cultural background.

The skills that I feel are necessary for this field is knowledge of emotional, behavior, cultural sensitivity, the ability to think clearly in a situation that might be difficult, empathy and great communication skills to deal with people that are in a stressful situation, intervention skills is necessary to respond such a need. These skills are necessary to help diagnose and treat people with mental health disorder

I would apply my knowledge and skills in psychology to clinical psychology by"developed methods to assess psychological knowledge and the competence to diagnose, construct case conceptualizations, and plan psychotherapeutic treatment" (Vollmer et al., 2013) I would use my expertise in psychology to assist client and create a safe space that allow them to be vulnerable because I have been in their shoes and understand what it take to be this open to seek help.
