What are the key drivers that are forcing healthcare organizations to greater levels of HIT adoption? Provide at least one academicresource to support your opinion in your initial post.

As we begin, it's important to keep in mind your role with technology in your organization. You may be involved with selecting new applications or you may be in a department where the new technology is being implemented. Regardless, healthcare managers need to understand the process of selecting and integrating new technology applications.

The goal for Week 1: Toengage students in robust discussions regarding key healthcare applications that are integrated across most healthcare facilities. Students will identify key applications and then define how those applications are utilized within healthcare organizations.

Students will discuss:

1. How HIT applications are getting integrated into our healthcare organizations.
2. What's driving the need for these applications and what's keeping organizations from adopting them?
3. Whether these new HIT applications are getting the desired results?
