CIB $-$ STEEL COLUMN

$C_2-$ STEEL COLUMN Based on the framing plan the given building for the $2^{nd}$ Floor and Ground Floor.

Design the steel beams for the $2^{nd}$ Floor. For this building, we will assume that

the building is located in a non$-$seismic area. We can also assume that the wind

load is fairly small $($for a $2-$story building$)$ and we can safely neglect the wind

load. Hence we can design the beam for only gravity loads. However, we will still

need to provide moment frames in the N$-$S and E$-$W directions for lateral

stability. We will design some connections at the designated locations $($as shown

in the drawing$)$ to be moment connections. Other typical connections can be

simple connections. Provide the member sizes for the indicated steel beam

members.

Design the Ground Floor members. For the ground floor, $RC$ members will be

used. Provide the details for the beams and slabs.
