Notwithstanding the numerous issues that affect warehousing in the Customs Context, it remains

vital to the various stakeholders who operate and utilize its services.

Because of its viability, companies are still interested in operating warehouses and have often

contacted Jamaica Customs Agency and requested the requirements for operating same.

During the Week of October 2, 2023, a potential investor contacted the Agency and expressed an

interest in operating a warehouse to store cement and milk. However, he required guidance prior

to making a final decision. He also stated that he would like to export some of the items to the

Dominica Republic and sell some on the domestic market.

The Deputy Commissioner of Customs has asked you to prepare a report analyzing the case,

clearly outline and define the type of warehouse applicable to the investors need, the procedure

as well as any other pertinent information deemed necessary to assist the investor in arriving at a

decision to invest in the country.

Additionally, you are required to demonstrate your understanding of the subject area by among

other things referencing the Customs Laws, procedures, at least 7 requirements to include fees

and Bond as well as the documentations required in warehousing and what they represent.
