This assignment aims to enhance your ability to apply divergent and convergent thinking strategies in the context of product innovation. Choose two products from Amazon to brainstorm many ideas, then refine these to create a unique or improved product.

Instructions:

You Can Work With A Partner:

This assignment can be done individually or with a partner. If choosing to work with a partner, clearly state both names on the cover page and ensure both contribute equally to all phases of the assignment.

Selection Phase:

Go to Amazon and select two items that interest you or that you find to have innovation potential. These items can be from any category but should be distinct enough to provide the ability to think creatively to allow for innovation. Provide the links to the products you pick.

Research Phase:

For each selected item, conduct a brief research to understand its current features, uses, and customer reviews. Identify the strengths and weaknesses or any gaps in the product's current design or utility.

Divergent Thinking Phase:

Using the information gathered, engage in a divergent thinking process for each product separately. Brainstorm as many ideas as possible for improving the product or creating a new product by combining elements from both items. Consider different perspectives, uses, and modifications. Document your brainstorming process and the wide range of ideas generated. Visual aids, mind maps, or bullet points can be helpful. Feel free to use MS Whiteboard or drawing apps if that helps and you can include those or screenshots

Convergent Thinking Phase:

Review the ideas generated during the divergent thinking phase. Begin the convergent thinking process by evaluating, synthesizing, and narrowing down the ideas to the most feasible, innovative, and valuable ones.

Select one idea $($or a combination of ideas$)$ that you believe represents the best opportunity for innovation. Justify your selection to the best of your ability. Is it feasible, will people want it or find it useful?

Innovation Proposal:

Develop a detailed proposal for the selected innovative product. Your proposal should include:

A clear description of the new or improved product.

The specific improvements or innovative elements introduced.

Potential challenges and solutions in developing the product.

Any sketches, diagrams, or mockups that can help illustrate your concept $($optional but encouraged$).$

Reflection or Conclusion:

Discuss what you learned about creative problem$-$solving and how these strategies can be applied to real$-$world innovation challenges.
