1. Think of a political reform or goal you support. How far would you be willing to go with protest tactics to achieve that goal: writing a letter to your congressional representative, attending a demonstration, being arrested by joining in an act of civil disobedience? 2. Why are students today less inclined to participate in protest politics than students in the 1960s? 3. Where should the government draw the line on protest politics? For example, should abortion protesters have the right to block access to an abortion clinic or should protesters be able to shout down a speaker on a college campus who denies the reality of the Holocaust? If not, what punishments should the government mete out for these activities?
