On September 14th, 2023 CBSA officers in the Quebec Region seized prohibited weapons and explosive substances which led to a Montreal man being charged. An investigation was launched by the Canada Border Service Agency which resulted in a Montreal man being charged after he appeared in the Montreal courthouse on August 16 and 17. He was charged with one count of importing prohibited weapons under section 159 of the customs act, one count of possession of a prohibited weapon under subsection 91(2) of the criminal code, and three counts of possession of explosive substances under subsection 82(1) of the Criminal Code. A search warrant was executed at the home of Mr. Thibault where four types of powders identified as explosive precursors, components for making homemade bombs, hundreds of firearm parts, 24 knives - two of which were prohibited, brass knuckles, replica airsoft firearms, flare guns capable of firing conventional ammunition, cartridges, ammunition and ammunition making equipment, child pornography-related items and several other items and documents. The type of enforcement action that took place here was a search warrant and arrest warrant.
