One analogy that is used to think about what is happening in an electric circuit is that of a bucket brigade. Bucket brigades were used before 1900 to fight fires. A group of people would each have a bucket and they would form a loop from the structure that was on fire to a well, or other source of water, and back to the structure. People at the well would fill a bucket with water and hand it to the first person in line who would pass it to the next and so on until it reached the person closest to the fire. That person would throw the water on the fire and then hand the empty bucket to the next person in line who would pass it on until it got back to the person at the water source. Answer the questions below about how this analogy relates to the behavior of an electric circuit and explain fully your reasoning. 1) What entity in the bucket brigade situation is the analog of the electrons in the electric circuit? 2) What entity in the bucket brigade situation is the analog of the energy transfer in the clectric circuit? 3) What entity in the bucket brigade situation is the analog of the battery in the electric circuit?
