Option A There is a proposal to establish a data centre in Perth, Dampier and Darwin to support digital connectivity for both industry and community across regional and remote Western Australia and the Northern Territory. This project will provide vital data and internet connectivity domestically between Perth and Darwin, while directly connecting the cities and territories to international business hubs in Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Japan and beyond in Asia Pacific and worldwide. The data centres will be connected via an 11,000km subsea telecommunications cable system comprising 16 fibre pairs that will provide domestic and international connectivity. This is a 2billion project which will be a major drawcard for attracting multinational businesses to the region and to boost digital investment. Assume a formal business case is required and it is to be developed following a government's specific policy.
