Managing employee problems within Disney

In the video, Employees at Disneyland explain why they enjoy working at the amusement park and resort but can't afford to pay for basic necessities in the op-ed video above. Thousands of Disneyland employees, like Glynndana Shevlin and Rebekah Pederson, are asking that the company give them a decent wage. Shevlin has worked at Disneyland for over 30 years, but she claims she has struggled to pay her bills, including rent and food. To save money, Pederson occasionally sleeps in her car and brushes her teeth in a Starbucks restroom before going to work. Disneyland's current minimum wage is reportedly $15 per hour. Each year following the measure's passage would see a dollar increase until January 2022, when the $18 per hour would be reached and wages would be "tied to the cost of living." Disney's current minimum wage rate for hourly employees in their Cal-ifornia parks, adjusted for Measure L, should be $17 as of 2021, but Renick told Insider 26,000 Disneyland employees were being paid less than that. The entertainment hospitality giant also did not dispute claims made by Local 11 that it was paying its workers less than the current local wage minimum of $15-17 an hour.
