Our school system created a school safety team to address and stay up to date with school safety issues. The team is composed of members that represent all of the various departments and levels within the school system. They distributed surveys and met regularly to put together a comprehensive safety plan for the school district. This plan was distributed to all school employees and is to be displayed in all classrooms. The team continues to meet on a regular basis and shares information from the meetings, as well as any new updates. This is an excellent way for all employees of the school district to stay up to date on safety issues as well as have input and their concerns heard. The plan can also be viewed by parents, students, and the community as well. A second way for employees to keep up to date with school safety issues is through our annual health and safety inspections. An inspector from the health department comes through and does a detailed inspection followed by a written report for the district. Each employee receives a copy of this report and if there are any concerns or issues specific to them, they meet with administration to discuss and correct the issue or concern. These are two specific ways I plan on staying up to date with school safety issues.
