Our task will be to design a VHDL component that accepts a 4-bit binary input, a mode input for hex or decimal, and outputs for driving a single seven segment LED. You will also need to drive the LEDs in order to represent the magnitude of your entry (how you do this is up to you The basic idea is to read the 4-bit binary input from four slide-switches and use a fifth slide switch for mode select. One 7-segment led on the Basys 3 board will be used to display either the hex or decimal version of the 4-bit input (use an extra LED for the most signifiant digit of the BCD values over 9). When the mode switch is in one position display the decimal number. When the mode switch is in the another position then display the hex version. This lab will require you to dig for information. You will need to refer to the online documents to understand the 7-segment interface. You will need to look at the class examples to get ideas for your design description. Your grade will depend not only upon your technical success but also your design choices. For example, which 7-segment displays you chose and how you show your bar graph are important design choices. If you have questions about your design choices then please come see me for guidance Assignment: Implement the above design on the Basys3 development board. Make sure to modify the Basys3_Master.xdc file as discussed in Class to match the switch and LED resources you have decided to us on the development board
