Out of the approximately 8 billion people in the world today, more than half live in cities. In particular, many have flocked to megacities, which form the world's largest urban aggregations and consist of an amazing diversity of people and cultures. Moreover, megacities are magnets for not just people, but also businesses and organisations of all sorts. Given the remarkable mix, they are also a cauldron for creativity, innovation, and societal evolution. Most of the megacities in the world are in Asia, and some of them have economies larger than whole countries. However, behind the glitz and glamour, severe problems persist. (a) Examine the economic, political, social, environmental, and public health problems within Asia's megacities. You should illustrate your answer using examples from East Asia, South Asia, and/or Southeast Asia. Include relevant statistics and graphs where possible.
