Question:
Over the past semester, we explored some ways in which science can be valuable to the church. Empiricism is a complementary epistemological framework which can provide a useful check on biblical interpretation. Additionally, scientific truth is designed to change when confronted with new data, which can help better inform decisions of ethics and morality. Although the scientific method has limitations, such as the influence of culture, the same can be said of our understanding and interpretation of Scriptural truths. In light of these discussions, please consider how you can be a "bridge-builder" between the best of science and the people in your church or social group. Who are the people with whom you have influence? What can you do or say that might improve communication and understanding? What obstacles do you anticipate, and how will you overcome them?
