Question:
Overall, I don't believe we have too much regulation of business, but I think some branches of it are covering/regulating more than necessary. Some regulations that benefit society include the FDA, EPA, and FTC. I feel like these are very important and without them, some companies would totally do what makes the most profit and not what is best for the greater good. Not every businessman has good ethics.
Some regulations are more costly, and do affect profits but, like the EPA, they are covering their bases in ensuring the business practice doesn't hurt the public or even have irreversible impacts on the planet. I'm not sure we need less regulation, I can't really speak because I'm not very informed on the matter, but I do think finding a way to make these processes of regulating quicker would help everybody out in the long run. The biggest complaint of our government is just that getting anything done always takes so long-- making people not want to do it.
