Task: Search through housing listings and find a place to live that fits the budget and personal situation of a scenario that you will be given. Make sure your housing cost (rent) takes up no more than 30% of your monthly income.
Your situation may be the same as one or two other classmates, but you need to complete the assignment on your own.
In Toronto, the rental market is currently VERY competitive and good apartments in desirable neighbourhoods often go to bidding wars" (FOR A RENTAL!!). Due to the competitive market, many people write letters to potential landlords explaining their personal situation in order to be the "winning" candidate.
Scenario 3 A 35 year old investment banker who works in downtown Toronto and earns $150,000 per year. She has a car that requires parking. She wants to live close to where she works in the financial district and doesn't like taking public transit. She does not want to do yard work but wants an outdoor space she can enjoy.
What to Submit:
Three options of different spaces that the person/people in your scenario could rent.
For each place state the:
Cost per month
Are utilities included? (state what is included)
Number of bedrooms
Number of bathrooms
Type of dwelling - condo, apartment, basement, house, semi,
townhouse etc.

A paragraph explaining which of the three choices is the best option and
why. Make sure you include information about the number of bedrooms, neighbourhood and why they make the particular apartment the best fit for the person/people in the scenario.
A letter to the landlord explaining your situation and why you would be the best candidate to be a tenant in this apartment/house. (Needs to be a half to full page and formatted properly in letter format).
