When calculating the means for the age groups for each trial, the reaction times for all participants in that age group were added. Then, that sum was divided by the number of participants in that particular group. When calculating the overall averages for each age group, all of the reaction times of the participants in that particular group were added together. Then, that sum was divided by the number of participants in that narticular roun. The standard deviations were used to show the variability amongst the data.
