Part 1a - Project cost analysis
The overall aim is to present a cost analysis for a renewable project to a technical and non-technical audience, so take care that all information easy to understand, but factual with supporting evidence/cited referencing.
Select only one of the above renewable energy technologies (RETs) wind, solar or biomass for your initial cost analysis. Using the data above and energy data that you calculated to size the RET, (from the previous assessment H5A1), determine the:
i. Capital cost (also expand /kw to for your RETs) showing a further breakdown for the key planning/construction/installation stages (CBA not required for this stage)
ii. Explain the content of each planning/construction/installation stage.
Guidance for 1a: your answer should include a copy of your spreadsheet. Also expect to see at least 12 costed stages - including planning/equipment/construction/installation costs. Show mathematical calculations in your spreadsheet and reference any costing sources used to develop your total capital cost. Note: take care with AD CHP plant as the costings may be based on their electrical output power rating, rather than their input or combined heat and electrical output power, and assume it uses a spark ignition engine.Capacity factor: Availablity of the energy source, and the technology's ability to convert the source to useful energy (if required)
Electrical efficiency: Ability to convert the useful energy into electricity
Key: RET - Renewable Energy Technology
