Noor is a new hire at a company that produces LCD displays for large places, such as shopping malls. Part of her job requires her to identify, and repair displays that are not working properly. One day, a shopping mall reported that 2 display units out of 12 had stopped working since their installation 3 months prior. The shopping mall also noted serial on the 2 units were different from the rest of the other 10 units.
At the mall, Noor checked the displays and realized her company had sold units that were from a bad batch. Noor wanted to tell the customer why the units failed, but recognized that if she revealed this information, the shopping wall would receive replacement displays at no additional cost. But, if she blamed the failing units' improper installation, her company would be able to charge the shopping mall for replacement display units.
Noor knew her manager would want her to choose the option that would minimize the company's losses. She is a new hire and is afraid to lose her new job.
