The first thing to consider is if the real-world problem is a personal one or a business one. When it comes to personal real-world problems individual models such as decision analysis, forecasting, and waiting line models, would suffice to resolve the problem. Most personal real-world problems are individual situations and do not have the complexity that business situations have. Business problems are more involved and will usually have overlapping situations that need to be analyzed at once. For instance, if a company is analyzing call centers they will be looking at waiting lines, forecasting, and operation management all at once. I will only be looking at waiting for line models if stuck in a line as a consumer.
